April 22 is International Earth Day. Just last week, over 1,000 scientists protested to bring attention to the dire situation concerning rapid climate change. A new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated that “humans and nature are being pushed beyond their abilities to adapt” and indicates that “over 40% of the world’s population are ‘highly vulnerable’ to climate”. Scientists increasingly are in agreement that the window of time left to take action before irreversible, catastrophic change occurs is rapidly shrinking.
