FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Tuskegee Golden Tigers women’s basketball team dropped a tough 51-42 contest against Fort Valley State in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) battle at the HPE Arena on Monday. With the loss, Tuskegee falls to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in SIAC play.

The game started with Tuskegee taking an early lead, outscoring Fort Valley State 12-8 in the first quarter.

The team’s defense held strong in the opening period, but Fort Valley State bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring Tuskegee 15-8.

By halftime, Tuskegee held a narrow lead, 20-18, but Fort Valley State had gained momentum and took control of the game in the second half.

Fort Valley State’s strong offensive execution in the third quarter allowed them to extend their lead. The Wildcats shot 60 percent from the field in the third, including two 3-pointers, and outscored Tuskegee 14-10.

Despite a determined effort by the Golden Tigers, they struggled to capitalize on opportunities, shooting only 30 percent in the period. The final quarter saw Tuskegee rallying but ultimately falling short.

Fort Valley State’s defense stifled Tuskegee’s offense, and the Golden Tigers struggled to make a comeback, finishing the game with a 51-42 loss.

Tuskegee’s offensive production was led by Brittney Bolin, who finished with a game-high 12 points, while Shemaiah Mackin contributed nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, La’Dajah Huguley added four points and four rebounds, and Hilani Cantone chipped in five points.

Despite a strong team effort on the defensive end, Tuskegee’s shooting woes, especially from beyond the arc where they shot just 14.3 percent, hurt their chances for success.

For Fort Valley State, Aaniyah Allen led the Wildcats with 11 points and two assists. Taylor Addison and Ja’Nya Ferguson each had eight points, with Addison also adding five rebounds.

The Wildcats’ strong rebounding and efficient shooting in the second half helped secure their victory.

The Golden Tigers will now look to regroup and prepare for their next SIAC contest, continuing their efforts to bounce back after a tough start to the conference season.

The team will focus on improving their offensive execution and finding consistency across all phases of the game.
