Norfolk, VA–The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is proud to announce the return of the MEAC Girls on the Gridiron Flag Football Clinic for its third consecutive year. The event will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md.

Held in collaboration with the National Football League (NFL), Wells Fargo, and Morgan State University Athletics, Girls on the Gridiron serves as the official kickoff to the 2025 MEAC Football Media Day schedule of events.

This free clinic introduces women to the fundamentals of flag football in a fun and inclusive environment, with MEAC student-athletes and coaches leading skill stations and drills. Designed to empower women through sport, the event reflects the MEAC’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and growing the game at all levels.

“As Girls on the Gridiron enters its third year, we’re thrilled to witness the sustained growth and impact this initiative continues to have,” said MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills. “This program not only promotes inclusivity and representation in the sport, but also empowers young women to see themselves on the field and beyond. The MEAC remains committed to fostering opportunities that inspire the next generation through meaningful and lasting engagement.”

The first two Girls on the Gridiron Flag Football clinics were hosted at Norfolk State University, where attendees participated in a variety of skill-building drills led by offensive and defensive student-athletes from each of the MEAC’s football-playing institutions. Each event concluded with the selection of an MVP, honoring a participant who demonstrated exceptional effort and enthusiasm throughout the clinic.

“This clinic opens doors for young women to step onto the field with confidence and purpose by equipping them with the tools to grow as athletes and leaders, while reinforcing that football’s values of teamwork, discipline, resilience belongs to everyone,” said Troy Vincent, Sr., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “The ongoing partnership with the MEAC reflects the NFL’s commitment to expanding access and creating real pathways for women and girls to play football and enjoy the benefits of transferable life skills unique to the game.”

This year’s clinic is open to women ages 12 and older and will once again feature hands-on instruction from MEAC football student-athletes and coaches. Participants are encouraged to wear athletic gear and sneakers (cleats if available), and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. All attendees will receive a free camp uniform kit including a shirt and shorts.

Check-in begins at 5:00 p.m., with the clinic running from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pre-registration is free and can be completed HERE.
