The Norfolk native had to be patient before he would get his time as a starter on the Spartan defense. Smith’s time finally came after spending two years on the sidelines and special teams; the 6’0″ 230 pound Linebacker who earned a scholarship his junior year made his presence known to all Spartan opponents in 2017 racking up 65 Solo tackles and a total of 124 tackles.
Smith also helped Coach Latrell Scott’s Spartan Defense maintain the second best turnover margin in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (1.42 per game). The Red-Shirt Senior also defended 4 passes and had 3 interceptions this past season.
