During the month of February, (Black History Month) members of the All-American team will be featured on the UrbanmediaToday.com website daily. Today we spot light:
Virginia Union’s Sterling Hammond : (Defensive Back)
#5 (Senior)
6’1″ 210lbs
Caret,VA
(Essex High School)
2019 First Team All -CIAA Conference Team
Panthers Head Coach Alvin Parker had excited knowing that Sterling Hammond was back in his secondary again this past season. As a matter of fact Hammond is returning to the TAJT10 Black College All American Team for the second year in a row. Despite playing in only 8 of the Panthers 10 games this season Hammond garnered 72 tackles getting 7.5 tackles for loss and had a sack. By the way I am talking about a defensive back, so be impressed.

The young gladiator from Caret had an awesome game on September 21,2019 in the 33-19 win over Johnson C. Smith. Against the Golden Bulls Hammond had a game high 16 tackles and returned an interception 40 yards to the house. By the way 10 of the tackles made by Sterling were solo tackles and he also had one tackle for loss.
All and all the Panther Senior had at least 7 tackles in every game he played this past season and was most definitely instrumental in helping Virginia Union finish a successful season with 7 wins against only 3 losses and an honorable mention on The Final 2019 Urban Media Today Black College Football Poll.
