 This past season Jamarae Finnie led a Langston Lions defense that anchored a Langston team that captured the CSFL Title and a trip to the NAIA Playoffs. Finnie finished first on the team in total tackles with 64 (33 were solo). Jamarae and teammate Michael Smith (also a 2017 TAJT-10 Black College All-American) helped coach Quinton Morgan’s Lions set school records finishing the regular season 10-0 and hosting a first round home playoff game in the NAIA Football Championship series  for the first time in 44 years.

Finnie made his presence known to Langston opponents early; in  the first game of the season he led the Lions with 3.5  tackles for loss in a 30-14 win over the Lincoln (Pa) Lions. Speaking of tackles for loss the Senior from Wasington finished the year with a total of 17.5 tackles for loss  for 72.5 yards. Finnie also had 7.5 sacks for a total loss of 40 yards.

Finnie who averaged 6.4 tackles per game was a major part of a defense that Ranked number four in NAIA Division one in total defense (279 yards per game ) and in scoring defense (17 points per game). The 6’3″  300 Pound Senior Defensive Lineman was a major part of the Lions Defense that was second in the Central States Football League in rushing defense only allowing 110 yards per game.
