Howard Women’s Basketball Announces Full 2024-25 Slate

WASHINGTON (October 23, 2024) – Howard University women’s basketball announced its full 2024-25 schedule Wednesday afternoon. Fans will have 13 opportunities to cheer on the Bison inside The Burr with an additional 16 chances across nine states.
NONCONFERENCE PLAY
Howard opens the new season at the Highest of Seven Hills (Nov. 4) when they face former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival Florida A&M.
The Bison return to The Burr (Nov. 8) to host their Golden Anniversary weekend where they battle against the George Washington Revolutionaries, followed by the Rams of VCU (Nov. 10).
On Nov. 13, the Bison will head to Mount St. Mary’s (Md.) to climb The Mount in their first midweek matchup of the season. After a week to regroup, the Bison will travel to Greenville, N.C., where they will take on the Pirates of East Carolina (Nov. 20).
The Bison return to hosting duties (Nov. 23) to duke it out with the New Hampshire Wildcats before getting back on the road to Williamsburg, Va., where they will face William & Mary (Nov. 29).
The team will make their way back to The Hilltop (Dec. 1) to tame crosstown opponent Georgetown before spending a weekend in the northeast at Seton Hall (Dec. 6) and Hofstra (Dec. 8).
The Bison host Army (Dec. 13) and Old Dominion (Dec. 17) in their final home games of the year.
Howard takes a business trip to the City of Brotherly Love ahead of the holiday season where they will compete in Saint Joseph’s Hawk Classic, hosted by the Hawks. The Bison will face off against the host Hawks (Dec. 20) and Northwestern or the College of Charleston (Dec. 21).
HU will return to The District (Dec. 29) to face American in their final away game of the year.
“This schedule provides a perfect balance of competition that will test our team’s toughness and depth,” said Howard women’s basketball head coach Ty Grace. “We have unfinished business, and this year, we are determined to bring a MEAC championship back to Burr Gymnasium.”
CONFERENCE PLAY
Howard opens conference play in The Burr with a matchup against Delaware State (Jan.4) before ending the weekend at Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) when they face the Hawks (Jan. 6).
The Bison host a full weekend of conference matchups, first going up against the Lady Bears of Morgan State (Jan. 11) before facing the Coppin State Eagles in the nest (Jan. 13).
On Jan. 25, the most anticipated rematch of the year happens in Norfolk, Va., when the Bison battle it out with the Norfolk State (NSU) Spartans in a rematch of last season’s conference tournament championship game.
The herd returns home a week later (Feb. 1) to host North Carolina Central (NCCU) and South Carolina State (Feb. 3).
Nearly two weeks later (Feb. 15), the Bison travel north to shake the Hornets’ nest once again at Delaware State before hosting UMES Sunday (Feb. 17).
HU kicks off a four-game road slate the following week, facing off against Baltimore schools Morgan State (Feb. 22) and Coppin State (Feb. 24) before heading to the Carolinas. Wrapping up the regular season, the Bison face NCCU (March 1) and the Lady Bulldogs (March 3) ahead of closing out the conference slate against NSU on Senior Day (March 6).
“Our conference schedule is always a test of resilience,” Grace commented. “But with our returning players and the experience we have gained, we are ready for the challenge.”
