Alabama A&M Suffers Setback to #17 Jackson State
The Alabama A&M University football team could not recover from a slow start in the Gulf Coast Challenge as the Bulldogs fell, 57-24, to No. 17 Jackson State on Saturday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Alabama A&M (3-3 overall, 0-2 SWAC) struggled on its first offensive possession as Cornelious Brown IV fumbled the ball, giving Jackson State good field position at the Bulldog 13.
The Tigers put the game away early in the fourth quarter when Morgan connected with Dupree for 37 yards, extending the advantage 50-24 with just over 12 minutes to play.

Heartbreak on the Hilltop: Hail Mary Stuns WVSU at the Gun
West Virginia State’s furious late comeback was undone in the cruelest fashion Saturday afternoon, as West Liberty converted a 40-yard Hail Mary on the final play to stun the Yellow Jackets 47–41 at West Family Stadium.
Tied 41–41 with just seconds left, the Hilltoppers’ Antevious Jackson rolled left and launched a desperation throw that Osama Hurst hauled in at the goal line as time expired. The play capped a chaotic fourth quarter featuring six touchdowns and three ties.

Bulldogs Tame Tigers In 49-6 Win
South Carolina State captured an impressive 49-6 win over visiting Savannah State Saturday (Oct. 4) inside Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field.
The Bulldogs (3-3) bounced back racking up 414-yards total offense on the day.
Quarterback Ryan Stubblefield threw 14-of-30 for 206-yards and two (2) touchdowns, while William Atkins IV added 9-of-11 for 162-yards and three (3) scores.

Hampton Rallies Past Norfolk State in Battle of the Bay
The Norfolk State football team jumped out to an early lead in the 64th Battle of the Bay, but Hampton rallied to claim a 41-34 victory on Saturday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd of 9,710 fans.
Quarterback Otto Kuhns led the Spartans’ offense, completing 15 of 26 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns while adding 54 yards on the ground. X’Zavion Evans anchored the rushing attack with 93 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. DreSean Kendrick paced the receiving corps with 120 yards on two receptions, including a 65-yard touchdown.
Defensively, Daylan Long led the way with nine tackles (three solo), a tackle for loss, an interception, and a quarterback hurry. Terique Miles also tallied nine tackles and a pass breakup.

Tigers Use Fourth-Quarter Rally To Down Allen, 38-28
The Benedict College Tigers scored 17 fourth-quarter points to rally past Allen, 38-28, on Saturday in Charlie W. Johnson Stadium to remain unbeaten.
The Tigers, now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the SIAC, jumped out to a 21-7 first-quarter lead, only to see the Yellow Jackets score 21 unanswered points to take a 28-21 lead late in the third quarter.
The Benedict defense held Allen running back Fabian Duncan, the SIAC’s leading rusher, to just 53 yards on 16 carries. The Tiger defense, the nation’s leader in forced fumbles and turnover margin, continued their disruptive power by forcing a pair of Allen fumbles, scored on an interception and a blocked punt. The Yellow Jackets fall to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC.
