A Christmas Letter from Margo to you

12/17/18 11:33pm Dear Friend,

I’m not sure what you need this year. I don’t know what you’d like to hear. I don’t know if you live in fear. My single wish is that we all would care, deeply. Love, sweetly. Think, freely.Include everyone. Do you believe me? I didn’t start with an intentional rhyme, but that’s how it came out this time. It took a while to start this letter. My soul cries for the world to bebetter. I go to sleep and that seems real. I wake up to how a dream should feel. Like a flashback to a different era. Like a reflection you don’t recognize when you look in the mirror. It hurts me. What’s on TV? The open wounds of a divided country. I wish you could just see me. I see you…Sometimes I want to escape too. Beyond the filters that we choose…Beyond the masks that weuse. Forget about the tragedies. Make them distant memories. No synagogue shootings. No campfire burnings. No immigrants hurting. No disbelief. No fury. I wish we could undo these stories. Repair the damage that’s been done. Live as One.

Maybe together we can have a breakthrough. Build bridges over our religious and cultural differences, too. Stop the rushing waters of hate spewed. Live for one another. Not how many Instagram pics get viewed. Don’t make our children live what we live through. It comes back toLove One Another. It’s the right thing to do. So let me share my wish for you. I wish that every day you would cry one time. Be moved to tears like Jimmy V’s famous line. Then you would laugh all out. Then think of what life’s really about. That’s a full day. At least that’s what Jimmy V would say. I wish you peace. I wish you joy. I wish you the innocence of a little girl or a little boy. I wish that every child was protected. No poverty. No drugs. I wish we all felt respected. I wish that we could see eye to eye or at least try to look each other in the eye. Because sometimes I feel invisible. I need more from you. I need something tangible. True reflection of One Nation Indivisible.

This year promise me something. We’ll stop judging and start loving. Not selectively, but universally embrace humanity. Just promise me. Because, I believe that we need we. I believe that we need we. I know this letter is pretty deep. I place humanity at our feet. Will we reach out to lift her high or turn aside and watch her cry? My faith says YES. We’ll do what’s right. We’ll Love One Another. We’ll be that light.

Love is my wish for you this New Year. Gratefully,
Margo
