NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team announced three signees to the program’s 2025 recruiting class on Monday, headlined by a former four-star wide receiver prospect.

The Spartans signed three transfer products from several strong institutions: wide receiver JJ Evans (North Alabama), defensive tackle Cameron Darmody (Wagner), and defensive lineman Rashawn Washington (South Carolina State).

Evans emerged as one of the best receivers in Alabama as a high prospect, ranking No. 5 among state recruits by 247sports and No. 7 by Rivals. After posting 74 receptions for 1,706 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior, he accepted a scholarship to play at Auburn – spending three seasons at the SEC institution. He transferred to Northern Alabama, catching 17 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns during the 2023 campaign.

Darmody played the past two years at Wagner, appearing in six games during the 2023 campaign and seven in 2024. He spent his first two seasons at Feather River College, making eight tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore.

Washington comes to Norfolk State from a conference foe, spending his last season at South Carolina State. A Hampton Roads native, Washington helped the Bulldogs win the MEAC crown, earning a spot in the Celebration Bowl.
