Prairie View A&M’s Anderson and Pettway Named SWAC Player and Impact Player of the Week

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX -In a week filled with outstanding performances across the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Prairie View A&M’s point guard Tanahj Pettway has been named the SWAC Impact Player of the Week. Hailing from Worcester, Massachusetts, Pettway has been a vital force for the Panthers, demonstrating exceptional skill and leadership on the court. Prairie View A&M’s basketball team has a reason to celebrate as guards Nick Anderson and Tanahj Pettway earned the title of SWAC Player and Impact Player of the Week.

Anderson, a Houston, Texas native has consistently shown prowess on the court, leading the Panthers in two recent key battles against UAB and Mississippi State.  The shooting guard showcased his skill against UAB with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds. His performance grew even more notable in the following game against Mississippi State, where he led all scorers with 21 points. Despite Prairie View A&M falling short in the final quarter against Mississippi State, Anderson’s ability to maintain pressure and score effectively played a critical role in his recognition this week.

Anderson’s contributions extended beyond scoring. He consistently provides stability and leadership on the court. This recognition as the SWAC Player of the Week is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport and his team.

Pettway recently showcased his prowess in two high-stakes encounters. Against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), he scored 13 points, providing the Panthers with crucial offense. In a subsequent game against Mississippi State, Pettway elevated his play even further by scoring 20 points. These performances highlight his scoring ability and his role as a key player in high-pressure situations.
