Reeves Earns MEAC Setter of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. —The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its women’s volleyball weekly honors where Howard University junior Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) earned the league’s Setter of the Week. The announcement came Tuesday morning.

Reeves averaged 11.8 assists per set while guiding the Bison to a 2-0 start in conference play. Sunday (Sept. 29), the Texas native racked up 36 assists in the road win at North Carolina Central (NCCU), followed by a 23-assist performance at South Carolina State (SCSU).

This season, Reeves ranks among the league leaders in multiple categories, including assists per set (7th) and service aces per set (t-8th).

Senior middle blocker Cimone Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) and junior outside hitter Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) received honorable mention for their efforts against NCCU and SCSU.

Coppin State’s TaKenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while teammate Coco Figueroa claimed Defensive Player of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Lilliana Montes won Rookie of the Week.

HU (8-5, 2-0 MEAC) is set to face Delaware State University Friday (Oct 4.) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
