In the Urban Media Today Top Ten action the Grambling State Tigers improved to 3 and 1 on the year with a 32 point win over conference opponent Mississippi Valley State 38-6. The Tiger defense came up big in the victory as De’Aumante Johnson pulled down three interceptions in the first half, returning his first interception for a touchdown.

Second-Ranked North Carolina Central picked up a win earlier in the week against South Carolina State and third-ranked  North Carolina A&T State University kept rolling along with their undefeated season beating up on the Bears of Morgan State 49-17. Speaking of undefeated seasons the Bulldogs of Bowie State have now won all four of their games, the latest a 76-7 thrashing of Shaw. QB Amir “Showtime” Hall fresh off an 8 touchdown performance a week ago, added 6 more passing touchdowns. Hall passed for 420 yards as he connected on 22 of 33 passing attempts without an interception.

In other top ten actions, the Trojans of Virginia State make their first appearance in this seasons top five, after picking up their third win in a row beating Winston-Salem State 33-27. Tennessee State suffered their first loss  31-16  at the hands of  UT-Martin. The Tigers loss dropped them to sixth in the UMT-Sports Poll.

Albany State also fell in the poll, thanks to a 48-16 loss to West Georgia. This was the second time in two weeks the Golden Rams suffered defeat and now they find themselves in the tenth spot in the poll. ASU made way for the Bison of Howard who picked up their second win of the season defeating then ninth-ranked Bethune-Cookman in a thriller 26-24. Howard is now ranked seventh and the Wildcats fall out of the top ten after losing their third game of the season.

The Clark-Atlanta Panthers picked up their third win against one loss this season with a 31-7 win over the Lane Dragons. Panthers quarterback Johnathon McCrary passed for 183 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way. Senior Tight End Rodney Morris caught both of the Td passes as he finished with three receptions for 115 yards. The win propelled CAU to the eighth position on the UMT Top Ten poll. Another school making their debut is the ninth-ranked Braves of Alcorn State who were victorious over then tenth ranked Southern University 48-3.
