(Pittsburgh, Pa) Pitt Football Annual Spring Game was truly a win-win and even though the Blue team won 10-3, there’s never any losers in this game. New Pitt Basketball Head Coach  Jeff Capel performed coin-flip duties and former Pitt head coaches Johnny Majors coached the Blue team and Walt Harris coached the Gold team.

“Beautiful day of weather, that’s for sure.” Said Pitt HC Pat Narduzzi. “Not much offense but great defense. We came out really healthy. That is probably the most important thing.”

And it’s an opportunity to see some of the newest talent of the team along with returning players. Here’s the ones who stood out to me:

  1. Sophomore RB AJ Davis-He didn’t make the most of the 2017 season, but he made an impression in the scrimmage as he rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries for the Gold. He looked like a workhorse and ran past, around and over the defense.
  2. Freshman WR Michael Smith-He’s 6-1, 215 and although he only caught 1 pass, it went for 46 yards and as he got separation from the defender. After the departure of Jester Weah, the Panthers are looking for another playmaker and this kid might be it.
  3. Sophomore WR Ruben Flowers III-Another WR with size (6-3, 200) and hands as he led all receivers with 5 catches to go with 68 yards. Pitt needs a possession WR as well and he might fit the bill.
