Lady Tigers Fall To Clark Atlanta In SIAC Tournament

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers committed 32 turnovers, which led to 36 points off turnovers for Clark Atlanta, and the Lady Panthers defeated Benedict 69-54 in the 2024 SIAC Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Cricket.

Benedict, the seventh seed in the SIAC East, ends its season at 4-24. Clark Atlanta, the third seed from the SIAC East, improves to 15-10 and advances to face Miles, the second seed from the SIAC West, at noon on Thursday in the tournament quarterfinals.

Clark Atlanta led the entire way, scoring the final six points of the first quarter to take a 15-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Panthers had as much as a 13-point lead in the second quarter, 25-12, but the Lady Tigers were able to score the final seven points of the first half to trim the lead to 29-26 at the halftime break.

Clark Atlanta scored the first nine points of the third quarter to build the lead back to 12 points, 38-26. Benedict was able to trim the lead to 47-42 with 21 seconds left in the period before Clark Atlanta closed out the quarter with a 3-pointer for a 50-42 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

A 3-pointer by Alaysia Nash cut the lead to 53-45 with 8:13 left in the game, but Clark Atlanta scored the next five points and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Benedict had four players in double figures, led by Taylor Christmas with 12 points. Nash and Dashia Jackson scored 11 points each, while Madison Golden chipped in 10 points.
