Howard’s Relay Squad Resets School Record at the Aggie Classic Twilight
(4×100 relay team sets new benchmark; senior runner caps off collegiate career with another win)
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 16, 2021) – Howard University men’s and women’s track & field program competed in their final meet before the NCAA East Preliminary Round at the 2021 Aggie Classic Twilight, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT).

After setting a new school mark last week at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, seniors Jessika Gbai (Philadelphia) and Ameenah Saalih(Willingboro, N.J.) and juniors Kennedy Lewis (Atlanta) and Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.) broke their own record in the 4×100 relays, finishing second overall with a 45.22 mark.
Individually, Saalih took part in the 200-meter dash where she finished fourth overall with a season-best time (24.39).
Senior runner Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich Township, N.J.) capped off her collegiate career with another victory in the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:38.74. The MEAC Champion ends her illustrious career with 15 victories, including six in her final year, while holding a pair of school benchmarks in the 1500-meter and 5000-meter.

Third-year runner Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) also competed in the 1500-meter race, placing runner-up behind Stanford (4:39.18).
On the men’s side, junior Kameron Davis (Miami) earned the second-fastest mark in the 100-meter hurdles (14.20) while senior Corinthians Payne (Apopka, Fla.) finished his collegiate career with a new season-best in the 400-meter hurdles (53.42).

On May 27-29, several Bison will take part in the NCAA East Preliminary Round, located in Jacksonville, Fla.
