NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women’s basketball weekly honors where Howard University saw D.C. native freshman guard Saniyah King claim the league’s Rookie of the Week for the eighth time this season. The announcement came Monday (Jan. 20).
On Jan. 13, King led HU to a hard-fought victory over Coppin State (CSU), registering 17 points, six assists, five boards and three steals.
This year, she leads the MEAC in assists per game (5.0), which ranks 43rd in the country.
Junior forward Nile Miller (Haddonfield, N.J.) received honorable mention for her efforts against CSU, producing 16 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win.
Norfolk State guard Da’Brya Clark was named MEAC Player of the Week while North Carolina Central forward Jada Tiggett earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard resumes MEAC play Saturday (Jan. 25) at Norfolk State. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
