If you’re among the millions who are trying to go green, you probably do a lot of recycling. If you’re like most of the people who recycle, you probably wonder what to do with the plastic bags that your bread or produce comes in. You don’t want to throw them away and add to the garbage in the landfills. Here are some great ways to recycle your plastic bags:

Packing Material

If you’re getting ready to move, you’re going to need packing material. All of your breakables will need extra protection if you want to keep them safe during the move. Don’t spend money on foam peanuts or bubble wrap; instead, put your plastic bags to use. Wrap the bags around your fragile items before placing them in the box. Once your box is packed, place additional plastic bags in the spaces between objects to prevent shifting.

Pooper Scoopers

If you have dogs that you take for walks around the neighborhood or to the local dog park, bring along a couple bread bags. You’ll be able to place your entire hand inside to bag to pick up after your pet. Once you’ve picked up the pile, there will be plenty of plastic to secure the package for disposal. You can also use the plastic bags to clean up messes around the house. This is especially helpful if you’re trying to housebreak a new puppy.

Holiday Decoration Storage

If you have decorative banners for every holiday and season, you probably like to keep them packed away until you need them. Plastic bread and produce bags are the perfect way to keep your banners clean between uses. Simply fold the banners and place them inside the plastic bags. They’ll store away neatly until you need them again. Best of all, you won’t have to spend money on special storage bags.

Wet Swimsuit Storage

If you spend a lot of time at the beach, you’ll need to pack a few produce bags. They’ll come in handy when it’s time to put your towels and bathing suits back in the car. At the end of the day, just stick your wet beach gear into the bags. You’ll never have to worry about wet sand in your trunk again.

If you’re trying to go green, don’t toss those plastic bags. There are easy ways to breathe new life into those old bread and produce bags.
