November 1, 2017 (Pittsburgh, PA) – Event Coordinator Clinetta Hill Jackson said, “We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments and service of Brother Marlon.” For the past 25 years, Brother Marlon has worked diligently in the radio industry in various capacities. The door to radio was opened up to him in 1992 at Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA. He later became an intern at WAMO in 1994 which launched his professional radio career. Throughout his 25 years in radio, Marlon’s voice has remained the same; however, in 1997 he dedicated his life to Christ, thus birthing his radio ministry. Brother Marlon is the host of Morning Inspiration on WAMO100, Sundays 7-11 am. For the past six years, he worked on a national level at Sheridan Gospel Network. During that time, he went from network producer to Music Director, then to Program Director running the entire network, while hosting the networks nationally syndicated afternoon show, “The Brother Marlon Show”. He diligently and faithfully worked there until the company shut down unexpectedly in October.
“Called to Be a Voice, celebrating 25 years of service”, will be a free celebratory event designed to deliver what his show provides: “Inspiration, Laughter, and Praise”. People of all ages will be engaged, educated, and encouraged as we showcase national and local talent, share in laughter, worship and much more. Though the celebration will highlight this milestone in Brother Marlon’s career, it will also serve as an opportunity for him to give back. He added, “This is a great opportunity for me to not only celebrate my 25 years in the business but also to celebrate those who have been with me along the way. I want to say thank you to them. My family, friends, listeners, mentors, churches… we’ve been on this journey together, now it’s time to celebrate!”
Martin will also give back by way of a fundraiser as proceeds will be donated to The Alzheimer’s Association, a foundation that researches the illness that affected his father for over 17 years. He and other supporters will walk this Saturday, November 4 in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Heinz Field. Supplies are also being gathered for the hurricane relief efforts in the Caribbean Islands where his wife is from. No monetary donation is too small or large and sponsorships are available. Details surrounding online fundraising efforts including a GoFundMe page are expected to be revealed at the event itself.
The featured guests for the event will include national gospel artists J.J. Hairston, Jermaine Dolly and Jokia. Hosts for the event include Apostle Otis Carswell of Potter’s House Ministries (Pittsburgh, PA), Sista Inez (Pittsburgh, PA), and Sherri Lynn Johnson (Harrisburg, PA).
The event will begin at 7 pm and will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2001 Wylie Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 where Rev. Dr. Vincent Campbell is the senior pastor.
