JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Head coach Jimmy Drew announced that the Lincoln men’s basketball team has signed a pair of freshmen with championship experience to bolster the team beginning in 2023-24. Bronson Borlace and Jose Roberto Tanchyn have each signed National Letters of Intent to continue their playing careers at LU.

“We are extremely excited to bring Bronson and Jose into our program,” Drew said. “Bronson is a worker, his motor never stops going and he is a winner. He competes every time he steps on the floor and his toughness will be felt throughout the program from day one.

“Jose is a very skilled forward with size. He has the ability to make plays with the ball in his hands and score at different levels offensively. He can guard multiple positions and uses his length well on the defensive end.  He has a great feel for the game and a great competitive spirit. “

Borlace, who is originally from Melbourne, Australia, averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds as a senior at Victory Rock Prep in Sarasota, Fla. A 6-7 forward, Borlace was named to the All-Sunshine Independent Athletic Association second team this past winter. In 2020-21, Borlace helped the Blue Devils win the SIAA Championship.

Tanchyn, a 6-10 forward out of Cordoba, Spain, led the Spanish National Euro U-18 team to the 2022 FIBA Euro Championship. While playing for his club team, Unicaja-Andalucia, Tanchyn averaged 7.7 points and 5.8 rebounds that season while shooting .603 from the field. That followed a 2020-21 season in which he shot .564 overall while averaging 5.1 points and 4.5 boards.

Both players will join the Blue Tigers beginning this fall and will have four seasons of eligibility.
