Amir “ShowTime” Hall was nothing less than his nickname everytime he stepped on to the football field this season. The Bowie native was recently honored with the Black College Hall of Fame “Deacon Jones Award” Established to recognize the  National Black College football player of the year. “Showtime” led  coach Damon Wilson’s Bulldogs to a 9 win and 2 loss season and a number four ranking on the Urban Media Today National Black College football poll. Hall was coach Wilson’s field general on the gridiron and started the season passing for 361 yards and 5 Touchdowns in the 48-7 season opening win over Seton Hill.  Between the opening season win and the final game of the season which was a 45-35 loss to Delta State in the NCAA D-2 Super Region 2 First round, Hall had passed for over 400 yards in two games. The Junior QB also threw for over 300 yards in five games and he passed for 5 touchdowns or more five times.

Hall’s season high passing came in the BSU 66-20 win over St. Augustine’s. The 6’4″ quarterback connected on 74 percent of his passes torching the Falcons for 433 yards and 6 TDs. The Junior  followed that performance up a month later passing for 5 touchdowns and 281 yards in the only regular season loss the Bulldogs experienced falling to Virginia State 47-35.  Amir will be back next season and if your not impressed with the number of yards (3519)  or the number of TDs he passed for in 2017 (41). Think about this,  381 times Hall put the ball in the air completing 249 passes and he was only intercepted 4 times in 11 games. “Showtime” also ran the ball 91 times and scored 8 touchdowns  finishing with 432 yards on the ground. Keep your Eye on this years National Black College Player of the year, because in 2018 he could repeat!
