The South Carolina Gamecocks are headed back to the national championship game after a dominant 74–57 win over the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA Women’s Final Four at Amalie Arena on Friday night.

From the opening tip, South Carolina set the tone defensively, forcing early turnovers and controlling the glass. The Gamecocks, led by head coach Dawn Staley, showcased the depth, discipline, and defensive tenacity that have defined their season.

Senior guard Te-Hina Paopao led the way with 14 points, shooting a scorching 75 percent (3-of-4) from beyond the arc. Her sharp shooting kept Texas on its heels throughout. Freshman forward Joyce Edwards added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, bringing energy and physicality on both ends of the floor.

Texas, under head coach Vic Schaefer, battled hard but struggled to find a rhythm offensively. Freshman guard Jordan Lee scored a team-high 16 points, while Madison Booker added 11. Still, the Longhorns were outshot and outrebounded, finishing at 40 percent from the field and losing the battle on the boards, 36–27.

“We gave it everything we had, but South Carolina is just a tremendous team,” said Schaefer. “I’m proud of our kids. They fought all year and showed the heart of a championship team.”

With the win, South Carolina (35–3) advances to face UConn (36–3) in Sunday night’s national championship, setting the stage for a clash between two storied programs and legendary coaches—Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma.
