Antonio Browns’ time in Pittsburgh over?
(Pittsburgh ,PA) Antonio Brown’s time with the Steelers could be coming to an end sooner than expected as the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver could be dealt by Friday, which is less than a week before the new NFL League year begins March 13th when trades can become official.
The Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins have reportedly been the teams interested in Brown’s services as the Steelers aren’t willing to part ways with their 7-time Pro Bowler without getting at least a 2019 1st Round Draft pick in return. It is not known what each team is willing to give up for Brown, but the Raiders have the most compensation as they have three 1st Round picks, while the Titans 1st Round Pick is right before the Steelers at 19, and the Redskins first pick is at 15.
The Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers (whom Brown has often expressed an interest in), and New York Jets were said to have some interest in Brown, but they have made it known that they’re not interested.
It was never the Steelers desire to trade Brown, as they were hoping to mend fences after Brown missed the Steelers regular-season Finale vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. But he spent the months of January and February publicly pointing fingers at the team that drafted him in the 6th Round in 2010. He also refused to answer calls from Owner Art Rooney II and head coach Mike Tomlin. Then he publicly demanded a trade, even posting a photo shopped pic of him in a 49ers uniform. He also made known his strife with Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, whom he accused of calling him out after getting upset by the Denver Broncos during the 2018 season. He also felt like he was disrespected and didn’t get the ball much, despite a 104-catch 1,297, 15 TD (which led the NFL) 2018, which earned him an invite to the Pro Bowl.
Rooney traveled to Florida to speak to Brown, and they both agreed that it was time to part ways. Where he will end up remains to be seen
