WASHINGTON (May 7, 2025) – Howard University softball begins its quest for another tourney title at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament. The four-day event (May 7-10) takes place on the campus of Norfolk State University (NSU) in Norfolk, Va.

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
HU (28-18, 20-1 MEAC) enters the tourney as the No. 1 seed and awaits the winner between No. 4 Morgan State and No. 5 North Carolina Central, led by MEAC Pitcher of the Year Jaden Davis.
Tuesday (May 6), the MEAC revealed its softball postseason teams and major awards where HU saw a program-best 11 Bison acknowledged for their incredible performances during the 2025 season, highlighted by freshman standout Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) winning the league’s prestigious Rookie of the Year award.
Norfolk State, led by MEAC Coach of the Year Angie Nicholson, locked up the No. 2 seed and wrapped up the other opening round bye. NSU meets the winner between No. 3 Delaware State and No. 6 South Carolina State, led by MEAC Player of the Year Taylor Ames-Alexander.
LAST TIMEOUT
Sunday (May 4), Howard closed out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep at Longwood (LU). HU won game one, 5-2, followed by a 4-1 victory in the nightcap.
In game one, junior pitcher Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) got the starting nod, going 6.2 innings with three Ks in the win.
