Tigers Fall To Albany State In Bridge Builder Classic, 74-64

MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict Tigers shot 36 percent, including just 17.4 percent from 3-point range, as Albany State took a 74-64 victory in a SIAC men’s basketball game in the Bridge Builder Classic on Monday in the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.

The Golden Rams scored the first seven points of the game, built as much as an 18-point first-half lead, and had a 26-point lead late in the game before the Tigers closed the game with a 17-1 run.

Benedict falls to 3-14 overall and 3-8 in the SIAC, as their losing streak stretched to five games. Albany State improves to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC.

The Tigers had four players in double digits, as Donte Whymns scored 16 points, while Tariq Shepherd had 12 points and Cadarius Baggett and Johnny Taylor Jr. chipped in 10 points each.

Benedict is back in action on Saturday, hosting Edward Waters at 4 p.m.
