PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh announced its men’s basketball promotions and theme days for the 2017-18 season Monday morning.
The promotional scheduled is highlighted by special t-shirt giveaways at the Backyard Brawl (Dec. 9) and the annual Blackout game presented by Huckestein Mechanical Services coming this season against Duke (Jan. 10) as well as a retro jersey rally towel for a Jan. 27 contest against Syracuse. Pitt will also distribute schedule magnets to the first 2,500 in attendance at the home opener Monday, Nov. 13 against Montana.
Highlighting the theme days this season will be Seats for Service Members (Nov. 25), Jr. Panthers Days (Nov. 25, Dec. 16, Jan. 13 and Feb. 11), Cheer and Dance Day (Feb. 24), Scout Day (Jan. 24) and Season Ticket Holder Days (Nov. 25, Dec. 16, Dec. 30, Jan. 13, Feb. 11, Feb. 24). In addition, Pitt will also hold Youth Basketball Scrimmages at halftime of select games.
Head coach Kevin Stallings enters his second year in charge of the program with a young but talented roster. Seniors Ryan Luther and Jonathan Milligan, the lone returning letter winners with significant game experience, are joined by a deep incoming class of graduate transfer, Monty Boykins, JUCO standout Jared Wilson-Frame, Rivals Top 100 point guard Marcus Carr, versatile big man Terrell Brown and talented spring signees Parker Stewart, Shamiel Stevenson, Khameron Davis, Peace Ilegomah, Samson George and Kene Chukwuka. The Panthers also added Malik Ellison, a skilled wing who began his college career at St. John’s. Ellison will sit next season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
