[Raleigh,NC] The Pitt Panthers losing streak is now extended to 6 games after the Panthers fell to the Wolfpack by 4 points on Saturday.Despite a 24 point effort from freshman guard Au’Diese Toney in his 35 minutes of playing time the blue and gold could not prevail. Coach Jeff Capel’s young panthers came out shooting pretty well in the first half knocking down 46% of their shots from the floor and a blistering 75% from beyond the arc.
Pitt collapses down the stretch and loses their 5th straight game, 77-73 to NC State. The Panthers led for the majority of the game but allowed to Wolfpack to pull ahead in the last 10 minutes. Twelve missed FT were a difference maker. Au’Diese Toney scored 24. pic.twitter.com/uWF7HTbyw3

Toney did get help from fellow Freshman Justin Champagnie (10 points) and Sophomore Guard Xavier Johnson (13 points); meanwhile chipped in with 10 points off the bench. All that said the Wolf pack still held off the young cats from Pittsburgh. The recipe for success for North Carolina State was balanced scoring with the help of 21 turnovers from Pitt.
Leading the way for the team from Raleigh was 16 points from C.J. Bryce and Jericole Hellems. DJ Funderburk added 14 points and Manny Bates finished with 13 helping N.C. State improve to 18 wins and 11 loses on the year. The Panthers latest set back leaves the young Panthers at 15 and 15 at this point of the season. Up next for Pitt is a trip to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech.
