Pittsburgh, PA – IGIA Movement for Health, a neurologically based “movement for healthy aging” program dedicated to enhancing the well-being of seniors in Pittsburgh, proudly announces its partnership with the Administration for Community Living (ACL) to commemorate May as Older Americans Month (OAM). In tandem with Older Americans Month, IGIA Movement for Health announces the expansion of its program, symbolizing a significant step forward in addressing the holistic well-being of older adults.
Older Americans Month serves as a platform to honor the vibrant spirit and resilience of seniors across the nation. This year’s theme, “Powered by Connection,” highlights the profound impact of meaningful relationships and social connections on the health and well being of older adults.
With Pittsburgh experiencing a remarkable 16.8% growth in its senior population over the last decade, the importance of addressing the needs of older Americans has never been more evident. Research from the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Social & Urban Research underscores this urgency, revealing that 19.7% of Allegheny County’s population is aged 65 and over, making it the second-highest concentration in the United States.
In response to this demographic shift, IGIA Movement for Health stands at the forefront of promoting the holistic well-being of seniors. Embracing a neurologically based “movement for healthy aging” program, IGIA advocates for non-pharmacological, non surgical solutions, emphasizing the transformative power of movement and community support.
The Kingsley Association in East Liberty was home to IGIA Movement for Health for 5 years, and now the program is expanding to three new locations, marking an exciting milestone in its journey. Additionally, IGIA is expanding its team by training and adding instructors to meet the growing demand for its programs.
To commemorate Older Americans Month, IGIA Movement for Health is thrilled to announce the launch of three new locations in May (in addition to The Kingsley Association, 6435 Frankstown Avenue) expanding its reach and impact across Pennsylvania. These new locations include:
