As the Howard University football team gears up for the start of fall camp, the preseason accolades continue to roll in with senior offensive lineman Anim Dankwah (Accra, Ghana) being named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000. The announcement came Monday (July 17).
Last season, Dankwah started all 11 games for the Bison and was named to the 2022 Bluebloods All-Conference First Team and 2022 Phil Steele FCS All-MEAC First Team. In addition, the Ghana native was an All-MEAC First Team selection and helped Howard earn a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship, its first since 1993.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is a best-in-class all-star event that will take place at the Dallas Cowboys Facility in Frisco, Texas on Feb. 1, 2024. Players who are selected will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility, and will have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules and opportunities at the highest level.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is also the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation, having started in 1925.
Howard is set to open the 2023 season against Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan Friday (Sept. 1). Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
