PITTSBURGH—Four Pitt football players pursuing future NFL roster spots were invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, the league announced today.
Tight end Gavin Bartholomew, wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, placekicker Ben Sauls and offensive lineman Branson Taylor will each travel to Indianapolis later this month for the event, which will take place from Feb. 24 through March 3. In total, 329 prospects will participate in on-field drills and interview with the NFL’s 32 franchises inside Lucas Oil Stadium, with the NFL Network and NFL.com providing live coverage throughout.
The on-field workout schedule is as follows: defensive linemen and linebackers Feb. 27 at 3 p.m.; defensive backs and tight ends Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.; quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs March 1 at 1 p.m.; offensive linemen March 2 at 1 p.m.
Bartholomew, a team captain, played in 49 career games at Pitt, the most games played by tight end in program history. He finished his career with 1,257 receiving yards on 104 catches with 11 touchdowns. His 104 catches are the most by a Panthers tight end, while his receiving yards total is the second highest in the same category and his 11 receiving scores rank fourth.
Mumpfield finished his Pitt career with 154 receptions for 1,940 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite only playing three seasons at Pitt, he posted the ninth-most catches by a Pitt receiver in history. He was named a team captain in 2024.
Sauls concluded his career as one of the greatest specialists in Pitt history. He had a team-high 107 points on the season, converting 21-of-24 field goals and each of his 44 extra-point tries. Sauls led the nation with three made field goals of 55-plus yards and his six field goals of 50-plus yards was a Pitt season record. His 58-yarder matched the longest in school annals (tied with Alex Kessman, 2020).
Taylor proved himself to be one of the program’s premier offensive linemen in recent history, starting 21 career games between the left and right tackle spots. He was selected as a team captain last year and started the initial six games of the year before sustaining a season-ending knee injury. He concluded his career with 45 games played.
The 2025 NFL Draft will be the 90th in history and is scheduled to be held at the Green Bay Packers’ Lambeau Field from April 24-26.
