Big Ben, Starters lead Steelers 16-6 Over Titans

The all-important 3rd Preseason Game proved to pay dividends for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they used that game to feature their starters who helped lead them to a 16-6 victory against the Tennessee Titans in front of 48,039 in attendance at Heinz Field.

 

In his only Preseason game, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger played well as he went 11-14 and passed for 114 yards and scored his team’s only TD when he found WR Marcus Tucker for a 32- yards TD for the game’s first score. Justin Hunter had 2 catches for 37 yards.K  Chris Boswell celebrated his new contract by kicking 3 field goals to finish the scoring for the Steelers.

 

Rookie RB Jaylen Samuels put on a show as he led the Steelers with 46 yards rushing, while RB James Conner led with 6 receptions for 52 yards. The defense wasn’t too shabby as they got to the QB 6 times, led by DEs Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt, the rookies in the secondary handled the interceptions as #1 pick Terrell Edmunds and Marcus Allen intercepted passes in this game.

For the Titans, veteran Blaine Gabbert went 16-24 for 158 yards and his team’s only TD.

The Steelers will conclude their 2018 Preseason when they host the Carolina Panthers Sunday night.
