How long does it take to feel the effects of CBD? It depends. Some report feeling therapeutic benefits within minutes, while others don’t feel any significant difference for up to 30 days of use. A few factors to consider:
The type of CBD product
A product’s bioavailability – a measure of the rate that the active compound, CBD, enters the bloodstream, varies. Vaping and other inhalation methods have the highest bioavailability. Typically, users feel the effects in 10-20 minutes. CBD oil is the most common method of taking CBD. Although it takes a little longer to enter the bloodstream (between 15-25 minutes), its effects last longer than with vaping. Capsules and gummies are digested and have to go through the stomach before getting into the blood, which takes around 30 minutes. Topicals, such as creams and lotions, don’t enter the bloodstream. They interact with localized receptors under the skin and can take up to 45 minutes to feel any benefit.
The quality of the product
The CBD market is mostly unregulated so all types of poor quality CBD, lower-than-advertised strength products, products containing dangerous additives, and even CBD oil that contains no CBD at all a pushed on unknowing consumers. Stick to reputable brands.
Each body is unique
No two people process a drug or supplement exactly the same. Weight, metabolic rate, condition, and medication interaction are just some of the factors that determine how fast you’ll feel the effects of CBD.
How much CBD is already in your body
CBD builds up in the body over time, becoming more and more effective, so it’s recommended that you take CBD every day. Some users won’t feel any effect until 3 or 4 weeks after they start using CBD. If you’ve been using high-quality CBD for a while and you’re still not feeling the benefits you hoped for, consider increasing the dosage a bit. CBD is safe even in large amounts.
