National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – February 7, 2019. Today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). What is HIV?
HIV is a virus spread through certain body fluids that attacks the body’s immune system, specifically the CD4 cells, often called T cells. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body can’t fight off infections and disease (SOURCE)
What is AIDS?
AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome: Acquired means you can get infected with it; Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body’s system that fights diseases. Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease. (Source)
How can you get tested?
