(PITTSBURGH, PA) The Pittsburgh Men’s Basketball team slips past its second opponent in less than five days as Freshman guard Parker Stewart leads the way with 13 points of which he scored 8 in the first half. Stewart was one of three Panthers to score in double figures (Junior guard Jared Wilson-Frame finished with 10 points and Freshman forward Terrell Brown contributed 12 points off the bench).

The Tigers of Towson lost for just the third time this season in their 13 games played and they made the Panthers fight for their eighth win of the year. There were two seperate occasions when Pitt had  to come from as many a nine points down, not to mention the Panthers had a hard time stopping Towson guard Zane Martin who finished with a game-high 20 points. Martin sparked the Tigers attack knocking down  7 of his 16 shots from the floor. The Sophomore guard from Philadelphia played  28 minutes  and was a major factor helping the Tigers lead for all but 12 minutes of the 40-minute contest.

As for the Panthers they recovered from a slow start in the first half; After shooting an icey 1 of 16 from beyond the three point line. Pitt finally found its range in the second half  from behind the arc knocking down half of their 12 attempts. Pitt also took advantage of Towson not being able to close them out (The Panthers outscored the Tigers 39-32). The tide seemed to turn in the Panthers favor as Freshman Guard Marcus Carr nailed a trey to tie the game with a little over two minutes left in regulation. Later Pitt took the lead on a Jonathan Milligan lay-up with less than a minute left , after that Pittsburgh found themselves at the charity stripe and sealed the deal converting free throws in the closing seconds.

The game against Towson was the Panthers final non-conference game and the Panthers will start ACC conference play on December 30th  when  Miami  pays a visit to the Peterson Events Center.
