Pitt crushed by Miami at Home 85 -64

Pitt. (11-17, 6-11 ACC)vs Miami(19-8, 11-5 ACC)

Pittsburgh , PA : Pitt faced Miami at the Peterson Event Center on Tuesday night. The panthers and hurricanes both entered tonight’s contest having 3 game winning streaks snapped. Miami has had the better season overall.

 


From the tip off Miami was in control. Early game jitters and turnovers had Pitt trailing 14-2 early on. Miami didn’t let Pitt get the lead all game. Miami was scorching hot from the floor, hitting 55% of their shots. Miami had 4 players in double figures led by dynamic guard Charlie Moore, who had 19pts on 7/10 shooting . Kam Mcgusty also scored 19pts while Sam Waardenburg and Jordan Miller both chipped in with 12pts.

Pitt turned the ball over 20 times, its 3rd game with at least 20 turnovers. Pitt shot a respectable 48% from the floor, but was just 5/17 from 3 point range.

 


John Hugley led Pitt with 20pts on 7/9 shooting to go with 7 rebounds. Jamarius Burton had 12pts.

Pitt F Mo Gueye left the game midway thru the 1st half after hitting the deck hard on a missed dunk attempt. Gueye returned in the 2nd half but wasn’t his normal self.

With the loss Pitt falls to 11-18, and 6-12 ACC play.

Pitt will try to snap a 2 game losing streak when it returns to the court to play Duke on Tuesday March 1st. Pitt will host Mike Krzyzewski and the blue devils. This game will be the final regular season road game of his coaching career.
