Steelers Up Against a High Powered Offense in Falcons
PITTSBURGH (UMT) – It’s midweek as the flock prepares to swarm into Pittsburgh.
The Steelers are gearing up to face the Atlanta Falcons at home, Sunday. A team that also has only one win so far on the season. With a record 1-3, the Falcons still posses a powerful passing game which Pittsburgh has struggled against defensively. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has three receivers who could give the Steelers problems this weekend. Veteran wideouts Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu are known deep threats in addition to rookie Calvin Ridley who is proving himself to be on pace for a stellar season.
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin recognizes the battle ahead and has a game plan as they prepare for this week’s matchup. “When we’re being challenged by the likes of [Julio] Jones and [Mohamed] Sanu then you put the pressure on our front because we got create duress in that pocket,” Tomlin said. “We’ve got to aid our secondary in terms of the coverage. Making a quarterback throw out of a well, limiting opportunities to get the ball down the field.”
Rookie safety Terrell Edmunds says from a defensive standpoint maintaining control of the game is the key to success. And that means not giving up the big plays. “We got to finish, we gave up some big plays (against Baltimore) we ended up letting them win the game. Regardless of what happens, if it’s turnovers or anything, and regardless of the situation we have to come back with a W. That’s our main focus this week.”
The Steelers and Falcons have faced each other 16 times in history with Pittsburgh leading the all-time series 13-2-1.
Pittsburgh’s record is currently 1-2-1 and find themselves in last place in the AFC North.
