Local Organization That Helps Black Women Related Disparities, Hosts Annual Artist Showcase

Pittsburgh, PA—T.H.A.W. (Transforming the Health of African American Women) will be hosting their 5thAnnual Artist Showcase with live jazz music by Tempo Noir as well as showcase art from the city’s most talented artists.

“This event will focus on African American women in the area and across the world through music and art,” says Camille Smith, Executive Director for THAW.

Featured artists:

Live band performance by Dennis Garner & Tempo Noir, and vocalists Chanell CJ Harris and Ayana Sade. There will be a spoken work performance by Crystal Jalil and a special remembrance tribute in honor of artist, Natiq Jalil.

This event will take place at the Edgewood Country Club, 100 Churchill Road (15235) on Sunday, November 5th from 2P to 5P. 

Ticket proceeds will benefit the fulfillment of THAW’s mission to continue to serve the community with enrichment programming, health, education, and providing resources to empower African American to improve their health.

The event is geared toward those who love and appreciate good jazz music and support the arts.

History on THAW: 

T.H.A.W. Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit organization formed in 2018 by a small group of Pittsburgh women concerned about the health disparities between African American women and women of other races (or ethnicities). Since its founding, T.H.A.W., Inc. has implemented programming that has promoted chronic disease education and intervention, coaching in behavior change and stress reduction, and lifestyle and weight loss support.
