GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State wrapped up Monday’s SWAC doubleheader at the Ruston Sports Complex with a dominant 9-0 win over Texas Southern in game two, after falling 2-0 in a tightly contested opener.

In the first game, both teams were locked in a pitcher’s duel.

Grambling State (12-18, 5-6 SWAC) managed just three hits, while Texas Southern (10-17, 10-5 SWAC) struck in the fifth inning with a two-run homer by Destiny Menchaca, the only scoring play of the game.

Despite a solid outing from Audrey Richardson (4-4), who scattered six hits and struck out three in six innings, the Lady Tigers couldn’t get the offense going and dropped the contest 2-0.

Grambling State came alive in game two. Chloe Wilson (3-1) delivered a strong performance in the circle, tossing a five-inning complete game shutout while giving up just three hits.

The Lady Tigers backed her up with an offensive explosion, scoring nine runs on 15 hits.

Tavia Leadon went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBIs. Ahsunte’ Specks continued her strong day with a double, a triple, and three RBIs.

Z’Natria Evans added a 2-for-3 effort that included a double and a stolen base.

Grambling scored in each of the first four innings, including a six-run third that put the game out of reach.
