Dragons pick up road win over Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – In a thrilling and closely contested game, the Lane College Dragons pulled out a 65-62 victory over the Tuskegee Golden Tigers on Monday at the James Center Arena.

The Dragons improved to 4-17 on the season and 4-12 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), while Tuskegee fell to 10-12 overall and 8-8 in SIAC play. A crowd of 725 fans watched as Lane held on in the second half to secure the win.

Key Performers:

For Tuskegee, D’Anthony Pennington was the standout performer, scoring 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3 three-pointers. Kusamae Draper also finished with 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while RJ Walker chipped in 11 points despite struggling with his shot.

First Half:

Lane got off to a strong start, leading 31-24 at halftime. The Dragons shot 44.4% from the field in the first half, while Tuskegee struggled with a 42.1% shooting performance. Despite Tuskegee’s efforts to battle back, the Dragons held a 7-point advantage as both teams exchanged leads early on.

Second Half:

Tuskegee came out strong in the second half, outscoring Lane 38-34. However, Lane’s resilience and free-throw shooting kept them ahead, with the Dragons converting 18 of 23 free throws in the second half. Tuskegee’s shooting woes from deep (just 2-of-10 from three-point range in the second half) hindered their comeback attempt.

Lane managed to keep their slim lead intact, despite a late push from the Golden Tigers. Tuskegee had several opportunities to tie the game, but their efforts fell short, and Lane held on for the win.
