Frankfort, Ky.-Kentucky State University football will travel to Miles College for a 3 pm ET kickoff on Saturday, where all eyes from around the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will be focused on the potential outcome.

The Thorobreds (2-4, 1-1) have dropped back-to-back contest against Morehouse College and West Virginia State University, after winning back-to-back games against Kentucky Wesleyan College and Central State University. The Golden Bears (3-3, 1-1) have won three of their last four games, with their lone loss coming to east division power Albany State University on Sept. 30.

Following last year’s upset at Alumni Stadium, where KSU took down the heavily favored Golden Bears after a fumble recovery in the end zone in the closing momentums. Both squads have circled Saturday’s matchup as one to watch.
Sophomore running back Brett Sylve walks in as one of the top performers in the conference. The Hammond, Louisiana native was recently named the SIAC Offensive Player of the Week, his second weekly conference honor of 2017. Sylve is coming off a career performance where he collected 235 all-purpose yards, including 167 rushing yards, and two touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets.

As a team KSU enters the game as the No. 4 rushing squad in the conference, averaging 144.8 yards per contest. While MC possesses the No. 9 ranked rushing defense in the SIAC, giving up 216.7 yards a game. On the flip side, MC ranks above KSU in rushing offense at No. 3 with 182.2 yards per game, but KSU comes in as the No. 3 ranked rushing defense, allowing just 133 yards per game.

One factor to keep track of will be special teams. KSU ranks No. 1 in combined yardage in kick returns and punt returns at 853 total yards, along with four touchdowns. Fort Valley State University is the only other team to score more than one special team’s touchdown in the SIAC, and it stands at two with two punt returns.

Fans planning to attend the clash of west division foes are encouraged to plan ahead, as MC will be conducting various activities for homecoming. For those looking to keep up with the action, merely follow @KYSUFB on Twitter for live updates leading up to kickoff and throughout the afternoon.
