Time Out: Let’s Talk Hockey

I would like to look at this from a little different perspective, but first, I have to point out how the two teams made it to this point of their successful seasons. The Penguins who were actually the second seed in the East beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4 games to 1,  the top seeded Washington Capitals 4 games to 3  and the Ottawa Senators 4 games to 3. The final game between the Senators and Pens was a thrilling and draining match as both teams battled through two overtimes before Pittsburgh pulled off the victory 3-2 to claim the Eastern Conference title and continue their journey to become the first back to back Stanley Cup winners since the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings.

But, before the Black and Gold clad skaters from Western Pennsylvania can make that claim they will have to get past the skaters from Nashville. The Predators are not even supposed to be here.  the Western Conference champions were a wild card team and made it this far first by upsetting the top team in the Western Conference the Chicago Blackhawks in a sweep(4  games to none). Wait, Is that really an upset, if you beat a team four straight times?  For general purposes, I will go with the flow and agree that was an upset. The Predators followed the “upset”  with a victory over the third-seeded St.Louis Blues 4 games to 2 and followed that success with a 4 games to 2  Western Conference Finals series win over the Anaheim Ducks.

So, I am very interested in this series because of two players, P.K. Subban and Trevor Daley. Both Canadian players of African descent and two of only an estimated 31 black players in the league on active rosters. Both are defenseman for their perspective teams and both have been in the NHL for at least six years. Subban entered the league as the Canadiens 2007 second -round draft and Daley entered the league as a second-round draft pick of the Dallas Stars in 2002.

Both players have played well as Subban came to the states in a trade the Predators made with the Montreal Canadiens this year and Daly came to Pittsburgh from Chicago two years ago and was a member of the Penguins Stanley Cup Championship team last season. Subban is a big time star who garnered many accolades while playing in Montreal and who is a person who plays the game with his own style and likes to stand out. Daily, on the other hand, is a player who is also very good but not as flashy. Both men get the job done and I want yo to pay attention to number 76 in the Blue and Gold of the Nashville Predators (P.K.Subban ) and number 6 in the Black and Gold of the Pittsburgh Penguins (Trevor Daley). They may not be the first players of African descent to play in the NHL and they may not even want to be known as just black hockey players, but I cannot help but notice with pride that they are hockey players playing with their respective teams at the highest level of the game.

By the way,  did I mention this series is bound to be exciting? In my opinion is the classic David and Goliath matchup. On one hand, you have the powerful Penguins looking for their second cup and on the other hand, you have the pesky Predators who are in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in franchise history. So, even if you’re not a hockey fan and never watched a match before. This is a championship series you don’t’ want to miss.

The NBA Finals Are Set

Thursday night in Boston, the Cleveland Cavaliers flexed their muscle and put to bed any notions that the Celtics would make a series of the Eastern Conference Finals by blowing out Boston 135-102.  Lebron James scored 35 points in just 34 minutes of playing time and Kyrie Irving added 24 points playing three minutes less than James.

The Celtics playing without their leading scorer Isaiah Thomas, were no match for the Cavs. Cleveland stepped up a notch on offense opening the game with a 21 point lead to put this game and series away. Celtics Guard Avery Bradley did all he could to help, leading the Bostons’  attack with 23 points which were simply not enough.

The Cavaliers showed their strength and intentions right from the beginning scoring 43 points in the first quarter. By halftime, the score was 75 to 57. Cleveland was running on all cylinders getting help off the bench as guard Deron Williams got involved in the action dropping in 14 points in only 17 minutes of playing time. The win wraps up the third consecutive Eastern Conference title for Cleveland setting up the much anticipated  NBA final clash with the Golden State Warriors.

“Cavs/Warriors III”  will be an exciting series. Last season Lebron put the Cavaliers on his shoulders and helped Cleveland overcome a two-game deficit to beat the Warriors 4 games to 3  for the title. The year before that Steph Curry led the Warriors to a four game to two series win.

This year Curry is again leading the Warriors but he has help in Kevin Durant, not to mention Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. KD made the move from Oklahoma City to Golden State for an opportunity to play in the NBA Finals. He may be the X-Factor in this series. That combined with the extra bit of rest Golden State has been able to enjoy may give them the edge. But I would not count on it, Lebron and Kyrie have been playing at another level. Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, and Deron Williams have not been playing bad either, so this one may go all seven games.  I Think this year’s NBA  Final will be so good it could actually come down to the last shot in game seven to decide the champion. The action tips off June 1, Get your popcorn ready.

Be the King of the Backyard Barbecue – Tips for Crafting the Perfect Burger

by beconrad

Summer is the perfect time to grill the perfect burger. If you are getting ready to fire up the grill and invite your friends for a barbecue, proper planning and execution are important. The perfect burger does not just happen – it is the result of painstaking preparation. Here are some tips you can use to create a burger that will have everyone at the party asking for seconds.

.   Fresh is Best – A pack of frozen hamburgers will do in a pinch, but if you have time to plan fresh is always best. Pack your cooler with ice, stop at your favorite meat market and ask for the fresh ground burger.

.   A Little Fat is Fine – While we all want to eat better, a little extra fat is good for grilling burgers. The additional fat will provide a juicier burger, while leaner cuts tend to dry out on the grill.

.   Let Your Thumb Do the Work – When crafting those delicious burgers, use your thumb to place an indent in the center of each patty. That indent will help the burger cook more evenly and allow it to get done in the center without burning along the edges or on the sides.

.   Experiment with Different Cheeses – Swiss and cheddar are fine, but you do not have to settle for the same old thing. Provide your guests with something different this year, with an assortment of provolone, pepper jack, blue cheese and even brie.

.   Keep a close eye on the grill. The high heat gas and charcoal grills emit mean food can burn in an instant. Pay close attention to your grilling duties – and never leave the grill unattended.

.   Set Out a Bun Bar – The serving table at most backyard barbecues starts with a back of store-bought hamburger buns. You can do better than that. Set out a bun bar with sourdough bread, Texas toast, pita bread and other options. Pick up your favorites at the grocery store, or invite each of your guests to bring their favorites.

.   Provide Unusual Condiments — You will want to provide plenty of mustard, ketchup and relish for your guests, but do not be afraid to set out some more unusual choices. From barbecue sauce and mayonnaise to steak sauce and horseradish, there are plenty of ways to top off the perfect burger.

There is an art to grilling, and artistry to creating the perfect burger. Whether you are grilling in your own backyard or manning the grill at a friend’s barbecue, the tips listed above can help you craft the perfect burger and keep the guests coming back for more.

NBA Playoffs: Golden State is in the Finals, Is Cleveland Next?

Monday night the Golden State Warriors completed their third 4 game sweep of this post season, thus becoming the first team in NBA history to start out the playoffs 12 and 0.  Golden States’ latest victory a 129-115 win over San Antonio, which was by no means a surprise. as a matter of fact, the Warriors were heavily favored going into this series. That factor combined with injuries to Spurs point guard  Tony Parker and their leading scorer Kawhi Leonard pretty much wrapped up the series in a nice neat package for Golden State.

Steph Curry led the way with his 36 points and in 33 minutes of playing time (he also dished 6 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds), Kevin Durant added 29 points and grabbed 12 boards while getting pretty good numbers from Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Ian Clark who came off the bench to score 12 points. Golden State shot 56 percent from the floor and jumped out to a 12 point lead in the first quarter and really never looked back the lead was 14 points at the half and by the end of the third quarter,  the Warriors were only 4 points shy of the century mark. to make matters worse for the Spurs, the Warriors shot 39 three-pointers and sank 14 of them for 42 points. San Antonio missing veteran point guard Tony Parker and leading scorer Kawhi Leonard ( Both out with leg injuries) did not have the horses to run with the thoroughbreds of Golden State. The Spurs did have a couple of bright spots in the loss, young stars  Kyle Anderson had 20 points and Jonathon Simmons added 13. Wiley veteran Manu Ginobili had 15 points in his first start of the postseason, in a game that many people are anticipating were his last. The 18-year veteran has not indicated that he is retiring, but at the age of 39, many expect he will call it quits soon.

As for the Warriors, they are obviously on a roll advancing through the postseason without a loss and sweeping Portland, Utah and now San Antonio. Steph Curry is on fire averaging 28 points per game in the playoffs, not to mention 5 rebounds and four assists. Golden State as a team is averaging 118 points a game and does not appear to be slowing down and now the Warriors will get a little time to rest up for the NBA Finals as they await the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers who are led by Lebron James and his playoff average 32 points per game are averaging 115 points per contest as a team. Cleveland appeared to be on their way to 12 straight wins in the postseason, But the Boston Celtics had other ideas. King James and his Cavs started off their Eastern Conference Finals Series with Boston winning the first two games in Beantown, as a matter of fact, the Cavaliers beat the Celtics in game two by a record margin of 44 points. Many thought the Celtics were done for the series because in that same game they lost their leading scorer Isaiah Thomas to a hip injury. But as the series moved to Cleveland, Boston should life and also let the Cavaliers know they were not going down without a fight. The Celtics won by three points, giving the Celtics only their second win in the seven head to head meetings these two teams have had all season.

Game Four of the Eastern Conference Finals is tonight and I think that Cleveland has taken note that Boston, Despite missing their leading scorer is not a team to be taken for granted. The Celtics have a guaranteed at least one more game will be played back in Boston and if they can win tonight that number would increase to two. I think the Cavaliers are now on high alert and will win the next two games and head into the NBA Finals. So I ask you was the loss in game three a good thing for the Cavs?

Find A Job With These Helpful Tips

As terrible as your job may be, it is not half as terrible as finding yourself unemployed and unable to cope. Turn your apprehension into optimism, then set out to find a position that makes the most of your skills and abilities. The article below can help you do just that.

One of the best ways for you to get your name out there is to advertise yourself online through LinkedIn. On this site, you can showcase your resume and all that you have to offer. Also, you can make contacts, who can be very valuable to you when you are job searching.

Before you go for your interview, do some research on the hiring company, about their line of business and their sales. Letting your interviewer know that you have done some research will show him your initiative in finding information and getting results. These are good characteristics of a dependable and resourceful employee that companies value.

If you are looking for a new job, you can skip to the front of the line if you have recently taken some classes. Sign up for enrichment courses every once in a while since this will show employers that you plan to stay at the top of your game.

A great tip for workplace harmony is to avoid relationships in the workplace, and if your the employer, have a policy against it. While things may be great, and productivity may be increased when the going is good, imagine the havoc it will wreak on morale and productivity when and if things go sour!

Proofread your resume before going to a job interview. To ensure your resume is free of spelling or grammar errors, have a friend or family member look it over as well. Nothing makes a person seem worse at a job interview than a resume filled with careless errors. It could even prevent you from getting a job.

Make sure that you send a thank you note to all of the people that have given you interviews. Sometimes people choose other candidates, but they will keep you in mind for future positions just because you are courteous. Send the note a day or two after the interview so they can remember who you are.

If you are having problems finding a job in the town you live in, you may need to look in the next town over. It may be a hassle to have to travel elsewhere every day, but jobs are not so easy to come by. Even if you do work in the next town over, you can continue to look in your town as well.

Don’t lie on your resume about your skill sets. You may feel like you need to stretch the truth to open doors, but more often than not your lack of the skills, in reality, will be found out pretty easily by a savvy interviewer. Instead, teach yourself the skills you need to know to make you more attractive to hiring companies.

Keep in mind that finding a good job can take some time. Do not give up if you are not finding what you want right away. Consider taking a job that pays well even if this is not what you want to do so you can support yourself while looking for a better job.

Call your local colleges and universities and inquire about what sort of free job assistance they provide. They may have a job board listing local opportunities, resume writing help or even positions within the college they need to fill. They’ll often have a variety of services for the benefit of students which they’ll share with you.

Call your local library to ask what sort of help they could provide you. They may offer free Internet use, allowing you to job search and send resumes online. They may also have seminars on writing resumes or other classes, which could help. Lastly, they may be able to help you print your resumes at an affordable rate.

Offering a bonus for good work or a lot of sales can be a highly effective way of increasing productivity. Who wouldn’t be willing to go the extra mile for an extra couple hundred dollars? So dig into your pockets a little and you will find your pockets will actually get deeper.

Dress for success. For better or worse, your appearance is the first impression you will make on your interviewer. Make sure you dress appropriately and are neatly groomed. It is better to risk being over-dressed than to risk appearing too casual. Whenever possible, avoid wearing any jeans, shorts, or t-shirts.

It can be difficult to field an unexpected, unpleasant question an interviewer asks. While you may not encounter that type of question, you should be prepared for it just in case. Make a list of things that could be perceived as negative: any periods where you went without employment, character weaknesses, or disciplinary action was taken against you at a previous job. Instead of lying about accomplishments or traits, be honest, but also show that you’re willing to keep learning and moving forward.

During your job hunt, you are likely to receive a call from a potential employer at some point in time. Be careful when you’re answering the phone. A solid first impression could mean the difference between you getting the job or not.

Make sure you stand out from all the other applicants when you are searching for a job. Arrange an in-person interview if possible rather than simply applying online. Arrive on time and well dressed. Behave in a courteous and professional manner. Be prepared for the interview by learning as much as you can about the company and the position in advance.

Consider going to a temp agency. A temp agency can be a great way for you to enter a company. They will already know you and be familiar with your work, and if a new position opens up, they are more likely to hire you than a stranger off the street.

You’re now ready to look for and get your dream job. How nice would be to get up every morning and get ready for a job you love? Take a breath and go get that job! editor@urbanmediatoday.com

Top ab exercises for women

Every woman wants tights abs. Swimsuit season is almost here and that means hot bikinis by the beaches. Every year this a goal that each woman strives to meet. If you’re serious about making it this year, now is a good time to start. Try these simple abdominal exercises below to get your torso into shape before those bikinis go on sale.

One exercise you can try is the mountain climber. Get your body into the push-up position. Your neck and head should be aligned with your spine. Your elbows and legs should be straight. Your feet should be straight and support your body on the toes. Now, shift all the weight to your arms as you rotate your legs, bending your legs and bringing them to their chest under your body. Move one leg forward at a time and then move it back. When your right foot comes back to the starting position, move your left leg forward, knee to chest. Start to get faster the more you move along. Complete a set of ten to fifteen repetitions per set.

The bicycle kick is another abdominal exercise. Lay on your back and rest one foot flat on the floor, bent at the knee. Bend the other knee and bring it forward to your chest, touching it with the opposite arm’s elbow. If you bring your left leg forward, touch it with your right elbow. This helps to tighten abdominal muscles within your middle section. Move slowly at first and then pick up speed. Repeat this exercise ten times.

The crisscross crunch is another great abdominal exercise. In this exercise, you lay flat on your back with your legs at a 90-degree angle. Place your hands, inter-locked, behind your head to support it. Then, move one leg forward and touch it with the opposing arm. This means that your left leg would touch your right elbow. And, your right leg would touch your left knee. Each time you touch your knee, hold for a count of five. Then, release and return to the starting position. Do two sets of ten.

Sit-ups may also be considered an abdominal exercise. Start by laying on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat. Move your arms so they are pointing straight in the air. Now, move into a sitting position by reaching your hands to your knees. Hold each sit-up for a good abdominal stretch and release. Continue doing sit-ups for the next 60 seconds, setting a record and moving past it each time you do this exercise.

Finally, move onto your side and lean on your elbow to support your head. Place your remaining hand on your hip. Bend your bottom leg, but keep your top leg straight. Now, lift your top leg above your hip bone. Hold your leg in this position for a few seconds and move it back to the resting position. Do ten repetitions of each side in order to have tighter abdominals. If you incorporate all these exercises into your exercise routine, you’re going to have tighter abs just in time for swimsuit season. editor@urbanmediatoday.com

“Time Out”!

Is it just me or do you also believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors will end up meeting in the NBA Finals without a loss in the entire 2017 NBA post season?

Tonight, Lebron James and the Cavaliers will enter game two of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics with a one game lead. King James is averaging 34 points per game in the playoffs (2017) and has led Cleveland to nine straight wins. The Cavs did away with the Indiana Pacers in the first round in four games despite never winning by more than six points, Cleveland handled its business. Then in the second round, the Toronto Raptors were declawed in four games never getting closer than seven points in any of its losses.

Fast forward to Wednesday night when the Cavaliers after not playing since May 7th unleashed a fury of points in the beginning of game one against the Celtics, knocking Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder for a loop before they could adjust, Cleveland showed pure dominance. Lebron James led the way dropping in 15 points in the first quarter scoring at will and finished the night with 39 points. The scoring may be expected of the Cleveland star, but what I’m getting at is that he is making his teammates better. Not only is Lebron getting his, he is making sure his teammates get theirs. Kevin Love scored 32 points in game one and grabbed double-digit rebounds, Tristan Thompson scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Lebron dished 7 assists and grabbed nine rebounds of his own. The frightening part about what I just mentioned is (if you’re a Celtics fan) that have not mentioned Kyrie Irving, J.R. Smith nor Iman Shumpert, who can also make an impact when Collab with the King.

Many people compare Lebron to Michael Jordan, but what Lebron is doing these days is truly putting him in that rare air. He only needs 104 more points during the playoffs to pass ” MJ ” at the top of the NBA postseason All-time scoring list. Not to mention he is the third All-Time Assist leader in the postseason (behind NBA legends John Stockton and Earvin “Magic” Johnson). I bring all of that up to say this at the age of 33 when most players would appear to have reached their peak and start a decline in performance, James appears to be reaching his potential playing like he has another level. Combine that with the experience and knowledge he has picked up in his 14 seasons in the league and he becomes a lethal weapon against opponents like the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors.

I mention the Warriors because the way Steph Curry and company are handling the Western Conference playoffs is totally absurd. Golden State opened the postseason having their way with the Portland Trailblazers in four games winning by margins of 12, 29, 6 and 25 points. Then the Warriors made quick work of the Utah Jazz winning every game by double digits. Saturday, The Warriors enter game three of the Western Conference Finals with a two-game lead over a San Antonio Spurs team that has already lost Point Guard Tony Parker and may or may not have their leading scorer Kawhi Leonard back from an ankle injury.

When you have the Splash brothers (Steph Curry and Klay Thompson) averaging a combined 42 points per game in the playoffs, In addition to Kevin Durant and his 23 points per game average. I don’t think the Spurs can hobble their way to one win even if the next two games are in San Antonio. If the Spurs are fortunate enough to get Kawhi back it will make things competitive (and that’s if he is at 90-100 percent). Without their leading scorer, there is really no one to help big man LaMarcus Aldridge and crafty veteran Manu Ginobili keep the Spurs competitive with the Warriors. I see Cleveland and Golden State in the NBA Finals for the third year in a row and this time neither team will have a postseason loss when they meet.

Ray Jr. on Sports

  1. Steelers release TE LaDarius Green-I was pretty shocked to hear this news. I just knew that he would be in their TE plans for 2017. Plus, I liked Green’s game. But the problem with the player was his injuries which plagued him in 2016: Knee injury to begin the season and concussion to finish it. He missed the final 9 games for the Steelers including the playoffs.
  2. Steelers Renaming Tight Ends? To be honest, they don’t need their TE’s to do much other than block and provide extra options at receiver. 2nd-year man Jesse James did well in Green’s absence. The 6′ 7” TE had 338 yards and 3 TDS plus he was very impressive in the playoffs as well so he’s earned his spot. TE Xavier Grimble was pretty good too, but he didn’t play as much. This is why I feel that former Pitt TE Scott Orndoff has a shot to make the team as an undrafted free agent. He reminds me of Heath Miller, he’ll have his shot to make more impressions.
  3. Steelers also release LS Greg Warren-It really says a lot when the Long Snapper makes the news. In the Steelers case, it makes sense after they drafted one (Colin Holba) in the 6th But the recent news is about current Long Snapper Greg Warren as he was released by the team on Thursday after he failed a physical. Warren appeared in 181 regular seasons and 15 postseason games and earned 2 Super Bowl rings. He served 12 years with the team.
  4. Steelers Sign 2nd-Round pick Smith-Schuster-It’s nice that the Steelers are getting these deals done. The sign a WR who I think will pay dividends in 2017. I mentioned this before, but He reminds me of veteran Anquan Boldin and Terrell Owens (as far as size). He is easily their #4 WR on the depth chart in my opinion.
  5. Big Ben’s future? Yes, we’re back at this again, especially after former Steelers OT Willie Colon said that the Steelers veteran QB seriously considered it after the 2016 season. Ben Roethlisberger’s 36 and is probably no different than any other QB at his age. I don’t care what Patriots QB Tom Brady says at age 39, he’s probably considered retirement several times. Anyway, I still say that Big Ben will play at least 3 more years.
  6. NFL OTA’s-Ah yes, my favorite NFL acronym. The Organized Team Activities.(OTAs) which are described as voluntary (remember that) offseason training sessions for NFL players. They don’t have to attend these sessions and they don’t wear pads..or in Steelers HC Mike Tomlin’s words “Football in Shorts”. For the Steelers, their OTAs begin May 25th and end June 8th as the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
  7. Former Patriots RB Blount signs a 1-year deal with Eagles-I was surprised that the Patriots didn’t re-sign this veteran RB who helped them win 2 Super Bowls, but he is now back in Pennsylvania with the Philadelphia Eagles. Blount is and all-power RB who can score (18 TDS in 2016) and will help the Eagles rushing attack.
  8. LA Chargers/Rams Stadium delayed until 2020-Why? Because of rain and construction delays. So that just means that the Rams will stay at the Coliseum and the Chargers will play an extra year at a Soccer Stadium (StubHubCenter) and let me make this clear: If the Chargers can’t sell out a 30,000 seat stadium, then they have issues.
  9. Michael Vick to play in Flag Football League-There’s a Flag Football League? Ok, now I’ve heard everything. It’s called the American Football League which will begin in 2018. It will include former NFL players Michael Vick and Justin Forsett who recently retired from the Baltimore Ravens. I just hope they don’t try to compete with the NFL like the defunct XFL and USFL tried to.
  10. Where will Colin Kaepernick Play in 2017? First, the kid will play in 2017. He’s too talented not to play. But where? I predict Seattle ( like the news reports) so he can back up Russell Wilson. And if not them, there will be other teams before NFL Training Camps open.
  11. Cavs beat up on Boston 117-104-I honestly think that this game should’ve been played at Harvard because Cleveland took Boston to school in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. I watched this game and I am convinced that the Cavs are truly locked in. Cavs F LeBron James led the way with 38 points. Game 2 is Friday.
  12. Thomas said that the Celtics aren’t scared of the Cavs-Not sure what this means, especially after losing the Cavs in Game 1. Listen to young Isaiah Thomas, it’s not about fear when it comes to the playoffs and it’s about wins, something that the Cavs have without a single loss. Kill the drama, or you will lose Game 2 as well.
  13. All-NBA Team-To no surprise, LeBron was named to this team for an 11th time, tying an NBA record. Other 1st teamers are OKC’s Russell Westbrook, Houston’s James Harden (unanimous decision ) and New Orleans’s Anthony Davis. Golden States Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Washington’s John Wall and Boston’s Thomas headline the 2nd Congrats to them all.
  14. Paul George left off the All-NBA Team-That’s a bit of a shock as the Indiana Pacers guard is still one of the best, but I’m sure his attention is where he will sign next season because he will be a free agent once the season ends. Apparently, he’s not expected to re-sign with the Pacers, which means the LA Lakers could come calling.

  1. Speaking of the Lakers-They end up with the #2 pick in the NBA Draft after the Lottery was revealed this week. (Boston gets #1) I think that they should choose wisely and not according to the hype, which means that UCLA’s Lonzo Ball isn’t guaranteed.
  2. Speaking of Lonzo Ball-Yeah, his father is still talking and doing too much of it. In an interesting interview with Fox sports, Lavar Ball states that he now wants $3 billion for shoe deal and that there’s no need to market to women. And of course, he says his son will work out for the Lakers It would be hilarious if the Lakers didn’t draft him.
  3. Pirates beat Nationals 10-4 and take 2 of 3-I admit that I’m basically done with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but I’m impressed with how they played against one of MLB’s top teams, especially on Thursday when they beat the Nats 10-4. Of course, they’re still in last place in the NL Central, but they’re playing pretty well of late. 1B Josh Bell slugged his team-leading 9th HR and is truly living up to his hype.
  4. Jung Ho Kang-Apparently the news isn’t so positive for this young man as his native home Korea chose to uphold their suspended sentence on the Pirates infielder. Meaning: He could miss the rest of the 2017 season and stay in Korea. The Pirates better get used to David Freese at 3B.
  5. Pens fall to Senators 5-1, are now down 2-1-Another horrible game by the Penguins as they gave up 4 (yes 4!) First Period goals to the Senators, which means that G Marc-Andre Fluery wasn’t sharp and was replaced by Matt Murray. HC Mike Sullivan will wait until Friday to announce his goalie. Stay tuned.
  6. Pitt Basketball signs a player-In all of their losses, the Pitt Panthers made an addition, signing former St. John’s G Mark Ellison (son of NBA’s Pervis Ellison). But they have to wait a year to see what Ellison can do as he has to sit out a year due to transfer rules. He’s the 7th Panther addition in the offseason to go with 5 departures.
